BMX RACING

What is BMX RACING?

BMX RACING history dates back to the 60th. It became an Olympic discipline in 2008. BMX RACING features 8 competitors riding simultaneously on a specially designed track. Competitors are equipped with helmets and pads. They start the race from a gate installed at the top of a starting hill. The course length varies from 350-450 m and it takes 30 to 40 seconds to ride the entire length of the course.bmx racing btproject

SITE REQUIREMENTS

The terrain dedicated for a BMX racing track should be either flat or slightly inclined. Minimum area required for such an investment equals approximately 0,5 ha (optimal dimensions are 70m x 110m). On top of that, additional area dedicated for car parks, competition offices and enclosed structures can encompass the track. In order to allow for fair competition as well as to touch the hearts of the audience, track width, its first straight and the whole course specification have been precisely outlined by the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale). At the same time, types of obstacles, their locaion, the shape of the track and the number of turns are up to the track’s designer. All that makes each and every track unique. During both designing and building works the top objectives are: to make sure each track attracts large audience, make sure the track will allow for gaining proper riding velocity and it will be is safe for its users.bmx racing btproject 2
